Declaration of Uttar Pradesh Ecoturism Policy 2014
Realising the potential of ecotourism
In employment generation, environmental regeneration, development of of remote areas and development of women and other disadvantaged groups in the country, besides promoting social integration Government of Uttar Pradesh declared Uttar Pradesh Ecotourism Policy 2014 vide its order No.3251/14-4-2014/509/2013 T.C dated 07-08-2014.
Constitution of Ecotourism Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee
Government of Uttar Pradesh constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of the state for implementation and Monitoring of Uttar Pradesh Ecotourism policy vide its order 3575/14-4-2014 Lucknow dated 30-09-2014. Principal Secretaries/Secretaries of Finance, Tourism, PWD, Irrigation, Social Welfare, Planning, Non- Conventional Energy, Culture, Forest, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Principal Chief Conservator of Wildlife are the members and managing Director U.P Forest Corporation is the member Secretary of the Committee.
Nodal agency
Government of Uttar Pradesh vide its order 1663/14-4-2013-509/2013 Lucknow dated 29 -08-2013 nominated Uttar Pradesh Forest corporation as Nodal Unit/Agency for implementation of Ecotourism related activities including planning, formulation and implementation of ecotourism projects.
Identification of ecotourism Circuits and Destinations
In the first phase, for the development of infrastructure and facilities for the tourists 9 ecotourism circuits have been created to connect 34 eco tourism destinations in the state.
Development and creation of Infrastructure and tourist facilities
New infrastructure development and creation of facilities for tourists like Nature trail, Cycling, Nature interpretation centre, Audio-visual facilities have been initiated at Motipur and Kakraha forest sites of Katarniya Ghat wild life division in Baharaich District. An amount of Rs.1.62 crores has been sanctioned by Governing body of U.P Forest corporation for the year 2014-15.
Publicity
For the promotion of ecotourism in the state, an ecotourism promotional film is being developed by U.P Forest Corporation. The short Duration film highlights the importance and characteristic of each potential ecotourism site.
Capacity Building
For successful implementation of ecotourism policy and sustainability of ecotourism in the state, Capacity building of the stake holders has been initiated. Capacity building for 30 members of 13 JFM/EDC in the field of house keeping, Cooking & Baking, nature Guide, accountancy has been undertaken at Kanshiram Institute of Tourism management
Initiation of Visits to Tourism Sites and development of Packages
U.P Forest Corporation initiated Day Visit Programmes to Nawabganj Sandi,Samaspur Bird Sanctuaries and night stay Packages to Katarniya Ghat Wid Life Sanctuary Baharaich.
